FASHION - Exclusives From My-Wardrobe

If the idea of wearing something that everyone else already has makes you itch, then here's some news for you. My-Wardrobe has worked with two respected designers for some limited edition styles that you'll only find at My-Wardrobe. Get them while they are hot!

Iconic footwear label Grenson and my-wardrobe.com have teamed up for a twist on the original FRED boot, a key part of Grenson’s footwear collection for decades. The result is the FRED Brogue Boot.  It's a mix of crocodile and lizard effect uppers, in tones of brown and tan with a smooth wooden sole.It definitely stands out.

Oliver Spencer has reworked one of his key items for the season exclusively for my-wardrobe.com -  the Waxed Cotton Duffle in navy for AW10. Look out for those wooden toggles with rope and leather patches and striking red check lining. And even better, it's made entirely made in Britain, from British fabrics. Me like!

SHOES - Five by Rio Ferdinand Footwear

No, you didn't read that post title wrong, Rio Ferdinand has a shoe collection. Did you miss the first hit? I must admit I did. The new collection from Five by Rio Ferdinand is a range of footwear and bags that cater for every aspect of the contemporary man’s busy lifestyle, or so they tell me.

The range has been heavily influenced by Rio’s own style, with casual yet sophisticated designs for the man about town.

Here's a bit of scoop from the man himself...

What pieces have you been wearing the most?
“The Rocco black military boots, brown and black Reuben slouch boots and the Rhys brogue zipper shoe.”

Unlike many other celebrity lines you have made sure that you had a real input into the designs, is this something you’ve always wanted to do?
“I could have put my name to a shoe or other fashion brands but I wouldn't of had as much scope in the design process and that's what appeals to me. Five has to represent me...it has to be versatile, appeal a mix of people and have a certain amount of coolness about it.”

Whose style do you admire?
“Tom Ford. The guy breathes understated cool. I like Andre 3000's quirky cool too.”

What has been your biggest fashion mistake?
“ I don't know...I probably got most stick for the white suit I wore when I signed for Man Utd!”

What do you reckon? Will you be buying into brand Ferdinand?

MOST WANTED - Alexander McQueen Nappa Leather Hold All Bag

If you're in the market for a new man bag then may I suggest this fine example by Alexander McQueen. The dark, subtle skull print sets it apart from other bags and the little details make it a premium piece that you just know will last and last. Shame about that hefty price tag... £1420 to be precise. You can get it from Oki-Ni.

CELEBRITY - As Seen on Olly Murs

X-Factor's Olly Murs was recently spotted out wearing these Sand selvedge twill chinos by YMC. Chinos the are perfect transitional piece for Autumn, and with camel colouring being a hot trend you won't go far wrong to snap these up. Wearing his with grey, Olly updates the look with a more modern colour combo. The rolled-up hem gives a nod to summer style, but this is something I predict we'll see all through winter too.

Get these YMC Chinos at my-wardrobe.com for £125.

INTERVIEW - New York Knicks' Amar’e Stoudemire

Here's a New York themed article seeing as it's currently New York Fashion Week. In the September 14 issue of Page Six Magazine – free inside the New York Post – new Knicks signing, Amar’e Stoudemire, is featured in a photo shoot and shares his thoughts:

On his sense of fashion:
“I love fashion, actually.  I love gear. I mix high and low. I love watches. I love shoes. I make sure that every time I step out of the house I’m feeling comfortable and fashion-forward. Depending on the occasion, I dress the part.”

On being in New York:
“New York is by far the best city in the world. The city is on fire. They’re ready, and so am I.”

On being drafted at 19 years old:
“At that point in time there was no player ever to get drafted out of high school and win Rookie of the Year, so that was my goal.  I was the first ever to do it, and it felt great.”

On travelling to Israel to research his Jewish roots:
“I’m not a religious person, let’s get that squared away.  [Judaism] was established 3,000 years ago or so, so I want to associate myself with the scriptures, the Bible and the culture it brings. I’ve been reading the scriptures for probably 19 years now. You can’t get caught up in the hype and the hoopla. You gotta remember where you came from and what it took to get here.”

On women in New York City:
“Women are definitely bold and come up and talk to me.  They want to associate themselves with me. It’s not a bad thing, being single.”
