Is it edgy, girly or just for rock stars? As we come ever closer to full ranges of 'man make-up' I am trying to work out whether guys actually want to be able to enhance their look with cosmetics. Not many men that I know will be first in the queue for male foundation. In fact, most men have only recently started moisturising so throwing a whole host of beauty products at them seems more like a marketing ploy, than satisfying demand.
Superdrug will be stocking Guyliner priced at £6.50 and the claim is
'an accurate, subtle defined look to the contour of the eye, making them appear larger, more distinct and seductive'. The USP then is seductiveness. Making men more attractive to the opposite sex is always going to help push sales up. Realistically, Guyliner is more likely to attract Emo teens than businessmen in their late twenties.
Celebs spotted with the odd bit of eyeliner include Noel Fielding, Pete Wentz, Brandon Flowers and Russel Brand and us girls all thought Johnny Depp looked hot as Jack Sparrow. So maybe there is a place for it, I am just not convinced that it will catch on in the mainstream. Comments please...
